The Slumber Bear Plus has been invented by a Medical Doctor. Each Slumber Bear Plus comes complete with the multi-function sound box which is discretely tucked inside the bear’s tummy. A second product known as a Silkie is included with this product. The Silkie is a small blanket that can be used as a comfort aid for the baby. Parents could place the Silkie next to their own skin for a few hours, maybe whilst breastfeeding or cuddling the baby. The blanket then retains something of the parents odour giving the baby additional reassurance of a parent’s close presence. The Silkie is made from velour and satin and extra Silkie’s can be purchased if needed. This type of tactile stimulation is an advantage in terms of ‘early development’ and can comfort the baby should a parent be absent for a while.
The multi-function sound box is motion and sound activated and has an inbuilt 5 minute stand by mode so it saves on batteries (requires 4 AAA batteries). This is then cleverly reactivated if the baby makes a loud noise, like crying or sudden movements, ideally helping to assist the baby back to sleep. In addition to the womb sounds, parents can also choose to have ocean waves, white noise, lullabies or use their own personal recorded message by using the 20 second sound recording button on the side of the sound box.
Practicality/Usability/Health & Safety
The Slumber Bear Plus and the Silkie are both made from high quality materials which are fully washable by machine or hand - remember to remove the sound box before washing! All the materials used comply with the British Safety Standards and come with a 12 month guarantee.
A further advantage point is that whilst the bear is being washed, the sound box can continue to be used by utilising the Velcro hook and loop fastener and can then be fastened to the side of most cots.
Value for Money
At a cost of around £30 the Slumber Bear Plus provides excellent value for money. Due to the quality materials used and the fact that the Slumber Bear can be used from birth upwards, the product will hopefully aid many restful nights sleep for parents and babies. The Slumber Bear Plus would make an excellent gift for a new baby or even for new parents and is available in three different colours, ice blue, pale pink and beige.
